Sherwood chlorine valves are designed to meet the standards outlined in Chlorine Institute Pamphlet 17. (This literature provides guidelines for packaging plant safety, operational guidelines, recommendations for receiving / testing / inspecting chlorine products).

Sherwood/s chlorine valves are manufactured using the latest technology. Automated self-diagnostic equipment and maintenance procedures keep them working well.

Our chlorine cylinder valve bodies are made from a heavy duty Aluminium Silicon Bronze (C64210), which is corrosion-resistant. The packing nuts, packing collars, packing glands, outlet caps, & fusible plug pressure relief devices are all made of brass. These increase load carrying capacity and resistance against cracking from stress.  

A single piece Monel stem (ASTM B164.84, Type NO4400 or NO4405) offers exceptional durability and positive shut-off in chlorine gas service. Choice of PTFE or Garlock 6130 packing used to seal the stem.
